Shift Reports & Cash Drawer Tutorial
Shift Reports help you track daily cashier operations, ensuring the physical cash in the drawer matches the recorded sales in the system.
1. Opening a Shift (Cashier POV)
When a cashier logs into the POS terminal at the beginning of the day (or shift):
- The system will prompt them to Open Shift.
- They must enter the Opening Cash (Float). This is the starting amount of cash in the drawer (e.g., Rp 500,000 for making change).
- Once opened, all transactions processed by that cashier will be recorded under this active shift.
2. Closing a Shift & Reconciliation
At the end of their shift, the cashier must close it to reconcile the drawer:
- The cashier selects Close Shift on the POS terminal.
- They perform a blind count of the physical cash in the drawer and input the Closing Cash Input.
- The system calculates the Expected Cash (Opening Cash + Cash Sales - Cash Refunds).
- The system compares the Expected Cash against the Input Cash to determine if there is a Shortage (Deficit) or Overage (Surplus).
3. Manager Audit & Approvals
As a Manager or Owner, you must review these shift reports in the Admin Dashboard to ensure financial integrity.
- Go to Settings > Shift Reports.
- You will see a list of all historical shifts. Click View Report on any shift to see the full Audit Reconciliation, Average Order Value (AOV), and Payment Breakdowns.
- Handling Discrepancies:
- If a shift has a Shortage (Deficit), the system flags it.
- You must review the report and click Approve to acknowledge the shortage and balance the books.
- Force Closing:
- If a cashier forgets to close their shift before leaving, their shift status will remain "OPEN".
- You can click the Force (Alert) button to forcibly close their shift from the Admin Dashboard.
